Walk
I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of
Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.
Nehemiah 2:13 ESV
In our area, we obtain an inspection before purchasing a pre-owned home. The inspector walks around the
house, goes into the attic, flips all the light switches, and much more. Afterwards, he creates a detailed report
with pictures and recommendations of items needing repair.
While Nehemiah didn’t have a clipboard to jot down notes regarding gates and the rubble he surveyed, he did
take the walk. This will look different for each of us. For some, it may be a literal journey around a property,
but for others it will be a more figurative walk. Whichever one though, we need to consider what the needs
are and what the cost will be.
Read Luke 14:28-30. Based on this Scripture, why is it important to “count the cost?”
