Revive

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD

shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they

shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31 ESV

I don’t feel like writing everyday. It’s part of my passion, but there are times I am uninspired. Let’s be prepared

and create a game plan in case this happens to you.

How do we battle these dream doldrums? By waiting on the Lord. But what does that mean? I’ve seen this

patient stillness when my husband and daughter play video games together. In a few of the games, they have to

move their character to a safe place and wait while they power up. They aren’t upset by this task, because the

alternative is “game over.” While we won’t be met by a cartoonish death, it’s a good idea to rest. In the quiet,

we must ask the Lord to refuel us. Then we will be able burn strong for Him in the calling He has given. He

assures He will. You and I simply need to rest.

Read Matthew 14:23 and Mark 1:35. What do these two verses have in common?

What does it look for you to take a time out? No, not sit in a corner, but your break may involve a chair and a

quiet room.

Psalm 131:2 says, “ . . . I have calmed and quieted my soul . . .”

Write down ideas for ways you can quiet yourself and wait for the Lord.
