Hello sweets! Elaine here coming’ at ya with my very first article for the Illustrated Faith blog! It’s a vast understatement to say that I’m excited to be posting here today, so let’s skip over that & let the palpable excitement resonate with my post! ;)
Being an avid scrapper, faith journaler, & artist, I pretty much eat, sleep, & breathe art. I wake up in the morning thinking about what creative mess I can make; & I go to bed brainstorming new projects as I fall asleep. One of the biggest responses I get from people that are new to any craft is this: “I’m just not creative enough for this.” To that, I say: “Pish Posh! Are you going to let the enemy win!?” We all have creativity inside of us, you just have to find that untapped source of inspiration. The voice in your head that tells you you’re not creative is Satan! I can prove to you that creativity lives in you.

The way you can fight that voice is to remember this: we are all made in God’s image, & our God is an artist! He is THE artist! He is the Master Creator! The projects He works on are the universe & everything it contains. Talk about a big “work in progress pile!” The Lord never stops creating & molding our lives. He never finishes. He doesn’t even have to brainstorm because He already knows what will come. We are his projects. How heavy is that? As artists, we love to be constantly creating something new, always evolving, always gaining new inspiration. The thought that we ourselves are projects for Him is just so inspiring to me.
I chose a passage from the book of Job for this layout because it spelled out exactly what I was thinking:
“The spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” -Job 33:4
The Lord creates us in His image & breathes his life right into us. Just as we as artists breathe life into our own creations, He gives us life. What a miracle! I feel so so so special to have been touched by the greatest artist of all time! So next time you’re doubting your creative skills, just remember that He created you; His own limited edition piece of valuable artwork. Our God is creative, therefore so are you. He is a true Master Artist!
It pleases the Lord when we use our gifts & talents to create something new, so go have an inspiring & wonderful week, everyone!
